2025 Fly Tying Classes

Beginning And Advance Fly-Tying Classes


The Yellow Breeches Anglers and Conservationists Association (YBAC) is pleased to announce
their Beginning Fly tying and Advance Fly-tying classes and for 2025. The classes will be held at
their nursery clubhouse located at 395 Martin Rd., Boiling Springs, Pa. 17015. The classes will
start at 7:00 PM on Jan 8, 2025 and continue for 10 weeks.

 

Beginners


Classes for the beginning fly tyers will be two hours long. Two flies will be demonstrated and
taught each session. The sessions will start with the very beginnings of fly-tying techniques and
progress gradually to more complex techniques and patterns each week. All patterns will be
tied on big screen closed circuit TV. There will be hands on individuals helping in the students
in the classroom as well as the tying instructor on the TV.


For beginning tyers the association will provide the necessary fly-tying tools. THESE TOOLS ARE
YBAC CLUB’s PROPERTY AND MUST NOT LEAVE THE SITE!!! The association will also provide the
necessary tying materials for the first two weeks of classes. The students will be responsible for
securing their own materials necessary for the following weeks. There will be a complete list of
materials for each of the following week’s patterns including detailed tying instructions each
student receives at the first week classes.

Advanced

​

The Advanced tying classes will start 6: 00 pm January 8, 2025. The classes will be one hour
long. These classes will be very informal. Attendees can tye along with the instructor or just
watch and learn as the fly is being developed. The instructor will encourage the students to join
in the discussion and instructions in the classes and share information as desired.
There will be one fly tyed each week and the attendees will decide on the fly pattern for the
following week. All attendee for the Advance Fly Tying MUST use their equipment and supply
their own materials. The fly pattern to be tyed the first week will be a Zonker pattern of the
instructor’s own design. Weighted Cone Head Olive Zonker
